How to Clean Kitchen Cabinets?

The kitchen is one of the most used living areas in a family’s home and kitchen cabinets can quickly become coated with a layer of grease, dust and grime from the foot traffic and cooking. Everyone knows someone who has the magic recipe to a DIY cabinet cleaner, and we bet you’ve likely scribbled the solution down on a notepad somewhere. Now it’s time to clean your kitchen cabinets and forgotten all about it.

We’re about to share with you the only three recipes to the perfect cabinet cleaners you’ll ever need. These are by far the best way to clean kitchen cabinets, or any cabinets in your home (especially the ones that are easily accessible to sticky little fingers). As an extra precaution, always check with your builder to ensure the solution is safe for your cabinets. For extra care, test the solution on a small part of the cabinet and wait several hours for any change or discolouration (although unlikely).

SOLUTION #1 – OIL & VINEGAR

• Mix together in a jar,
• 3/4 cup canola oil
• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
• Rub the oil mixture onto the cabinets with rag, then wipe again with another clean rag

SOLUTION #2 – DISH SOAP

Create a cleaning solution using laundry or grease-cutting dish detergent and water. This is one of the best ways to clean kitchen cabinets. If you have filmy cabinets or there’s a layer of grease on them, this solution could be the one for you.

• 1 cup of detergent for every 2 cups of warm water.
• Apply to your cabinets using a clean cloth or soft sponge. Scrub the cabinets while taking care not to remove or scratch the finish.
• Rinse with water to remove the soap residue and dry.

SOLUTION #3 – THE CLEANEST CLEANER

Vinegar is a go-to natural cleaner when faced with cleaning kitchen cabinets. For this simple cleaner, mix a 50/50 solution of vinegar and warm water and put into a spray bottle. Mist onto cabinets and let the solution sit for a minute or two before wiping clean with a soft cloth.
